Clayton Hall has much to
celebrate. This newsletter serves
to remind us of the amazing
achievements of the pupils and
the excellent work that goes on
in our school every day.
Last month we had the honour of
welcoming the Secretary of State for
Education, Nicky Morgan to our
school. She held a question and
answer session with our teachers
before meeting the press. She said of
Clayton, ‘Coming here, I can see the
passion of the teachers and how their
commitment is inspiring the next
generation.’ The Secretary of State
also took a guided tour of the Old Hall
led by pupils and discovered more
about the history of our building.
Her visit formed part of her ‘schools
direct’ tour which aims to listen to the
views of school staff. In conversation
with me, she explained how pleased
she was that Clayton Hall bucked the
national trend by making most pupils
study the all-important Ebacc
subjects. She explained her clear view
that these core academic subjects are
the most valued by universities and
employers. At Clayton we balance

One of the key indicators of success is the number of year six pupils who choose our
