                                                                                Clayton Hall has much to
                                                                                celebrate. This newsletter serves
                                                                                to remind us of the amazing
                                                                                achievements of the pupils and
                                                                                the excellent work that goes on
                                                                                in our school every day.

                                                                                Last month we had the honour of
                                                                                welcoming the Secretary of State for
                                                                                Education, Nicky Morgan to our
                                                                                school. She held a question and
                                                                                answer session with our teachers
                                                                                before meeting the press. She said of
                                                                                Clayton, ‘Coming here, I can see the
                                                                                passion of the teachers and how their
                                                                                commitment is inspiring the next
                                                                                generation.’ The Secretary of State
                                                                                also took a guided tour of the Old Hall
                                                                                led by pupils and discovered more
                                                                                about the history of our building.

                                                                                Her visit formed part of her ‘schools
                                                                                direct’ tour which aims to listen to the
                                                                                views of school staff. In conversation
                                                                                with me, she explained how pleased
                                                                                she was that Clayton Hall bucked the
                                                                                national trend by making most pupils
                                                                                study the all-important Ebacc
                                                                                subjects. She explained her clear view
                                                                                that these core academic subjects are
                                                                                the most valued by universities and
                                                                                employers. At Clayton we balance

support we receive from our families. We are very grateful.

One of the key indicators of success is the number of year six pupils who choose our

school for their secondary education. We were delighted to read that this year        Library News.……..7
Clayton Hall is the most over-subscribed school in Staffordshire. This is quite an

achievement. Of course, we have much more to do. Our outcomes at Key Stage            Announcements and Dates..…….8
Four are not yet outstanding and we will continue to work tirelessly to learn how to

achieve this goal.

Finally, I wish you all a peaceful Easter. Thank you to everyone for their hard work
this term, and I look forward to welcoming you all back to school on Monday 20th
