YEAR 8 FOOD NUTRITIONAL VALUE EXERCISE (UNIT A)
1) Open this excel spreadsheet: Example
2) Use one of the following websites to find the nutritional and calorie values and complete intake
Remember you have think about PORTION size. You may have to change the value slightly OR estimate it.
3) Use the 2nd spreadsheet (spreadsheet 2) to complete YOUR nutritional and calorie intake for YESTERDAY
4) Design a menu which has the IDEAL BALANCED nutritional intake for a single day. Your menu must have at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables and have totals which are as close as possible to :
- Carbohydrates= 300g
- Fat = 65g
- Protein = 50g
- Calories= 2000 cal
Present this information in menu form (as a poster/leaflet) NOT just in a spreadsheet
LEVEL LADDER
- Lvl 3 = you have done a basic menu containing at least 10 foods with nutritional values
- Lvl 4
You have done a menu with at least 12 foods including 5 fruit and veg
- Lvl 5 you have designed a menu that has at least 12 foods is easy to understand, well presented with 5 fruit and veg. Also the meals are interesting and the nutritional values are all within 10% of the values stated above
- Lvl 6 - as for level 5 but the total nutritional values are with 5% of the values stated above
